The Control Engineering, Inc. and GreenHouse Energy team worked with a major bottling company to provide water, power and production monitoring systems to ten (10) of its facilities in California, Nevada, and Hawaii. The GreenHouse Energy team provided all of the design, engineering and programming for the comprehensive automated controls systems.
The Control Engineering, Inc. and GreenHouse Energy team engaged with a leading steel production company to provide an Automated Demand Response and Real Time Pricing solution which resulted in a potential load shed of 8 megawatts. Southern California Edison (SCE)'s Automated Demand Response program helps customers identify opportunities to install technologies, including energy management systems, that enable automated demand reduction during periods of peak electric demand. The team provided all of the design, engineering and programming for a comprehensive, fully automated energy management and controls system. Key features of the system include Automated Demand Response features; energy monitoring and reporting; a software platform utilizing proven, reliable, commercially available technology; a web browser interface; and custom screens. This system interfaces with all of the HVAC and lighting in the facility, as well as some process equipment.
The Control Engineering, Inc. and GreenHouse Energy team engaged with a worldwide Fortune 500 biotechnology firm to replace over 900 of their operator interfaces, as well as generate validation documents to conform to current good manufacturing practices. These included validation plans, requirements and design, development tests, installation and operational requirements, and traceability matrices.
Southern California Edison (SCE) provided the funding for a detailed energy audit at a plastic injection molding company in Corona, CA. Utilizing the energy and utility program expertise of GreenHouse Energy combined with the automated controls experience of Control Engineering, Inc., our team collaborated to outfit the facility with state of the art automation equipment. This equipment is not only capable of safely and remotely executing sequential shutdown procedures associated with normal operations, but it allows our customer to save thousands of dollars on their electricity bills by enabling their participation in SCE's Automated Demand Response program.
This Auto-DR installation involved the deployment of wireless technology new to the Demand Response field. This development literally made it financially feasible to deploy Auto-DR at NO out of pocket cost to our customer. Significant cost savings were achieved as the installation did not require the expense of hard wiring controllers. With this cutting-edge solution, SCE, along with the expert engineering team of GreenHouse Energy and Control Engineering Inc., have made it possible for Apogee to contribute to making Auto-DR benefits affordable to literally thousands of SCE's non-residential customers.
